Allgemein

Errol 'I' Kong aka Ricky Storme , is the only living original Chinese Jamacian artist from the early days of reggae music still recording. I was born April 18 1947 at North Street & Duke Street, Kingston Jamaica, between Moravan Church & Bustamante Trade Union. My uncle is the late & legendary producer Leslie Kong of the Beverlys. I was the founding member of the Jamacians, along with Norris Weir, Martin Williams, Keith Brown & Midsey Curry. and later Thomas Cowan.

During the early seventies I wrote & recorded a number of singles, such as Trod Zion's Pathway, Dunny Dunn, Cuban cutlas, Take a Hold Break The Man's Hold. I also recorded with Bunny Rug as Bush Weed & Corntrash. We also recorded Freedom fighter from the beat down Babylon rythym for Lee 'scratch' Perry. In 1978 I recorded my first album "The Way It Is", which was release in 1979 & re-released in 2006. My second "The forgotten Man " CD is a combination of re-recorded new & vintage songs, some previously unreleased. Fans & vintage collectors should enjoy this remastered collection of prophetical , energetic & roots rocking music, ( a true vintage Kong.) " The Forgotten Man " features the musical talents of some of reggae music's premier musicians. such as Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, Vin Gordon, Cat Coore, Carl Ayton, Herman Marguis, Leroy Hamilton, Tommy McCook, Ibo Cooper, Ian Lewis, Roger Lewis, Jackie Jackson, Headley Bennett, Winston Wright,Sticky, Skully, Prilly Hamilton, Judy Mowatt, Anecie E Banks, Pam Hall, Candy McKenzie, Cynthia Schloss, Orville Woods, 5446,The Jamaicans, & from Swiitzerland 'Blue eyed'Georgie. I under went surgery, my health has vastly improved, i'm about 90%. Yes, my voice is still strong, some say it sounds stronger. I have written new songs & looking forward to recording a new album ,(maybe a collaboration.) Sadly, I have not profitted financially from my works, but unscrupulous men has profitted at my expense. Sources have revealed that my original 78/79 release of "The Way It Is" BY Top Ranking, sold thousands upon thousands, yet i received 0 compensation. The Way It Is was also heavily over-dubbed & released by G. Gilbert as Africa Calling, without my permission & without being compensated.

"Life's Road" & "Babylon Walls has also appeared seperately on various artist release, again 0 compensation. On January 2006 another label "Feel The Beat" released another version of "The Way It Is" renamed "Way Of Life" again without my permission & 0 compensation. The 2006 re-release of "The way it is" is also doing quite well. However, that which is due me has not reached me.
