Budadub Soundsystem

Deep basslines, sweet lyrics and a big bag a joy – thats what budadub soundsystem stands Uncurable infected by the reggae virus during their first journey to jamaica in 1996, and the fact that at this time jamaican 7“-records where hard to get back home, niko, martikal snasha don gave everything they owned just to buy as much records as possible. Heavily Equipped with a big variety of jamaican music-culture one Step more had to be done – a soundsystem – this was the birth of budadub soundsystem.

Back home in Munich they started playing new won love in the outside area of an alternative-music location. The perfect venue „new“ carribean music style. This summer ..96 the reggae seed started growing in the south germany. And as the reggae massive grew, the voices getting louder for having „pure“ parties. So budadub started making reggae parties in the jamaican way. Several journeys jamaica followed and with each one the sound collection got a little bigger. Getting deeper deeper into soundsystem culture budadub sound started making Dubplates in jamaica, spezial recordings of the beloved reggae-artists praising the soundsystems name and their members.

After playing for years in different locations as a hired soundsystem, budadub founded own weekly reggae club named „kingston club“ giving them the possibilty to keep up reggae-spirit by inviting soundsystems and artists from all over germany and all around world.

Artists as Buju Banton, Sizzla, Capleton, Anthony B, Barrington Levy, Degree, Gregory Isaacs and soundsystems like Killamanjaro (JA), Stone Love(JA), Mighty Crown (JAP), Hi Powa (Italy), Pow Pow (GER) had been playing so far and lots more will follow. In 2001 budadub with niko (dj), snasha don (selector) and martikal(operator) was proofing soundboy skills at the cologne based soundclash „kill or be killed“ hosted by Pow Pow against Supersonic (Berlin) and Sentinel (Stuttgart). More and more recognized by the european reggae scene, budadub was playing In Clubs and Festivals (such as Rototom Sunsplash, Chiemsee Reggae Summer, Summer Festival, David Rodigans Birthday Bash),all over Germany, in Italy and Switzerland.
